"The Endless Road"

The road you travel in this life, it never seems to end.
You sojourn forward with countless miles, and unexpected bends.

Some parts bring sad and tragic scenes, and others peace and hope.
You search for happiness day by day, on the road that curves like rope.

A trail that takes you upward, to inspiring snow capped peaks.
And a path that leads you downward, to valleys dark and deep.

The sunrise beauty of the morning trek, the star lite glittering nights.
You stay the course from dawn to dusk, though storms may test your plight.

Through luscious green filled forests, across dusty desert sands.
You witness all that life would give. To you, uncharted lands.

When the distant finish looks clouded, and navigation appears unclear,
With faith and prayer your companion, a compass to help you steer.

God will direct you homeward, if asked. You need not worry so!
If you choose the road that leads to Him, He will gladly guide your soul!

POET'S COMMENTS

This poem compares our travel in life to a road. There are so many places that the roads can take us, some good and some bad. There are events in life on the road that are planned, and others that are not planned. One thing is certain, we always choose the road that we are on. If on the wrong road, we can choose to change directions any time.

Who has never experienced the frustration of bumper to bumper traffic on a large freeway? Have you ever traveled a cold and lonely snow covered road? Others wonder on mountain dirt trails with no signs. Some have witnessed the flat never ending desert plains, where they feel they will never see green trees again.

Some roads lead to mountain peaks with majestic views. Some roads lead to breath taking ocean shores. So much to see, so much to learn, so much to experience!

There is one road that leads to eternal happiness. This road always has challenges, opposition, and adversity. Despite the storms of life that come, this road always has road signs, lights, and signals that point the way.

God has given us a perfect GPS system to navigate those roads. He always knows where we are and what we need to do to return to landscapes where beauty never sleeps, safety is assured, and happiness never expires. The "Road to Exaltation" is the road God has asked us to travel.
