"Burning Sparks"

The endless jabs, that nip and poke.
Seem harmless., said alone.

Combined with time. One by one.
They cause a soul to groan.

It may be perceived, as a little thing.
A harsh comment, multiplied by ten.

Flickering embers, easily fan out.
To raging flames with no height, or end.

Tiny uncontrolled. Malicious attacks.
Painful burns, that never part!

Leave scars unhealed. Reminders of when.
Unkind speech broke a piece of one's heart.

Be cautious then, not to criticize!
Pour water on belittling remarks!

That your legacy, will be wisdom heard!
And not a memory of burning sparks.

POET'S COMMENTS

Have you ever met a person who felt it necessary to belittle others unceasingly. Was it a parent, a sibling, a boss, an associate, a friend? Such relationships are destroyed quickly. The resulting hurt may continue for a lifetime. In my human experience no good comes from such practices.

Verbal bullying is a form of abuse that can do emotional and mental damage that lasts one's whole life. It is a cruel, harmful, and senseless behavior that does far more destruction than good. I would hope that no human being would desire to create a life long pain to another human being. Yet, it happens often in the world we live in.

This poem hopes to remind us that only kind words build, lift, and show love. Forest are beautiful, but can be destroyed easily by a few burning sparks.
