"A Bridge To Heaven's Gate"

O'er jagged cliffs, and towering heights!
Crushing currents, rage below!

And yet we pass! With scarce a thought!
Of dangerous threats, that flow!

The bridge we cross! From life to death!
Was forged! With enormous cost!

A passageway! Made sure by Him!
So all would not be lost!

Great sacrifice! A bridge constructed!
Leading to one's fate!

That every man! May thwart hell's pain!
To knock on Heavan's gate!

POET'S COMMENTS

A bridge offers refuge and sometimes deliverance. It is a gift often unpaid for, by us. The days, weeks, and months of construction are ignored, or seldom remembered. And yet these bridges deliver us from the struggles and discomfort; to cross a treacherous gorge on foot, traverse a raging river, or pass over from one mountain to another. We achieve our destination in just minutes, rather than weeks or months. We arrive safely, guarded, protected from the elements. We take for granted such a selfless gift that guides and protects us in our journeys.

There is another bridge often unthought of. It is the bridge to eternal life. It is only through repentance, that we are given the faith, strength, and courage to cross this bridge. It too, protects us from danger!

How often do we consider the bridges given to us by our loving Savior? There are spiritual bridges that offer safe passage from dangerous conditions all around. We live each day, not realizing the price paid for our safe passages into His kingdom. How exciting it is to know that Jesus Christ forged the path and made it easier for us to reach our destination!

I love this scripture in Job. Certainly the bridge Christ constructed leads to wisdom.

"But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living." (Job 28:12-13)
