"My Last Thoughts"

What will be my last thoughts? Of life upon this earth.
Sad regrets, or heavy sorrows? For those I know I've hurt.

Or, will my cup run over? For blessings that have flowed!
To know that God was happy! With every story told!

Will sin and pain then plague me? And haunt me in my sleep!
Or, will forgiveness sooth my soul? And offer kind relief!

Will loved ones not forget me? And cherish the faith I've shown!
Or, will they choose a darker path? That leaves them all alone.

Will I soon, be excited? To see a brand new dawn!
To quietly smile and realize! That life will still go on!

Will my Savior meet me? And gently take my hand!
Grant me gifts and guide me! To His, sweet promised land!

Oh, that I am worthy! That treasures will be found!
That family, then can meet me! On heaven's higher ground!

POET'S COMMENTS

As many of my friends are soon to pass through the veil that separates us from the after life, I have reflected on what my final thoughts would be. Each living soul writes their own chronicle while on earth. Their personal history will be based upon their choices. Will they choose good or will they choose evil? Will they they choose happiness or sadness, love or hate?

We are blessed to have a means to correct our errors. The Savior has provided a way through repentance to learn from our mistakes and become better. Our history can be rewritten with repentance. Forgiveness blots out our sins to where we will "remember them no more."

I hope that each of us moving forward will write a wonderful legacy. I pray our final thoughts will be absent of regrets and full of happiness and joy.
