Beginnings exciting! With passion that blends!
Two joined together! A bright future without end!

Sunshiny moments! And happiness that glows!
The Spirit made one! The union of souls!

Gifts and talents brought together! To nurture and protect!
A perfect combination! Blessed by heaven's consent!

Each a lighthouse! Beaming into the other's heart!
A refuge from storms! Peace and warmth to impart!

Patience in prayer! Sharing hope that endures!
Faith never-ending! An eternal bond that matures!

The joy is illuminating! And love sanctified!
The radiating trust of two sweethearts! Will forever abide!

POET'S COMMENTS

This poem was written just before our eldest son had his tenth wedding anniversary. I would like to dedicate this poem to honor all the marriage unions within our family.

Marriage starts out exciting. And then it is perfected and refined through the trials and storms of life. When partners in love become a lighthouse to each other, the beauty of marriage takes on deeper meanings. A spouse, through prayer, can often become that guiding light that leads to the warmth and security of a safe harbor for all!

The scriptures support the notion that a man and a woman should become one in purpose, thought, and with God. For the commandment is given to love our wives as Christ loved the Church. The Bible give us some insight.

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." (Genesis 2:24)

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" (Ephesians 5:25)

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord." (Proverbs 18:22)

"Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life . . ." (Ecclesiastes 9:9)

It is my hope that the Light of Christ will illuminate like a lighthouse in every marriage!
