"Time To Become"

Line upon line, precept upon precept.
The sands of time they flow!

An hour glass that hurries life.
"So much I need to grow!"

Moments pass, I must not waste!
The minutes, never slow.

Opt wisely then, "what thou will do."
While there is time to glow!

Each day I choose, good works complete.
To reap, and then to sow.

And when the final day it comes.
Perfection I will know!

POET'S COMMENTS

Perfection is achieved one day at a time. It requires being better than yesterday. It is putting first more time in prayer, more time immersed in the scriptures, more time in reflection, more time in serving others, and more time in doing good each day.

Choosing the right and then ceasing the moment is what increases the light within. Much of what we become is a result of what we focus on, and what we think about, and then what we do!

As the light of Christ grows within us by keeping our covenants, serving God and man, we become one with Christ and the Father. The scriptures teach us that this earth life is a time of probation, "a time to prepare to meet God." (Alma 12:24) We are also admonished "not to waste the days of our probation." (2 Nephi 9:27)

Our decisions and actions are important during this mortal test. This life is all about choosing. Following Christ is the right choice. When we choose the right, and serve the one and "only true God" (John 17:3), light is added.

Light cleaves to light until a perfect day. Therefore, all must ask; "do I use my time to increase my light, or deplete it? Do I opt wisely, to grow, and to one day eventually glow?

And so the hour glass reminds us to "be anxiously engaged in a good cause" (D&C 58:27), to hasten our pace, and to lengthen our strides. For in those hours of reaping, we sow eternal rewards. And through our good works, comes the process of perfection, the accumulation of light and spirit, to one day shine with the brightness of celestial glory.

"That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day". (D&C 50:42)
