"The Power To Lift"

Tears sincere, explain. What her words could not.
Stirring within, her emotions unstopped.

Gratitude purely, poured out unrestrained.
A love deeply felt, as her faith was sustained.

For the mountains of worry, as days plagued her soul.
The weeks that past, she faced them alone.

"How can I do this?" She desperately cried.
"Steep cliffs to conquer, without help!" A sigh.

The boulders of fear, that she could not bear.
A hand on her shoulder, removed each with prayer.

Through life's hardest trials; our wells they run dry.
The living water it fills them. Renewed strength, "to try!"

And so the peaks high, she approached daily with care.
Knowing her Father, would always be there.

Later to look downward, from those lofty heights.
Feeling courage, confidence, and trust in His light!

Marveling that a mortal, and one weak as she.
Could master any challenge, with God's power to be.

POET'S COMMENTS

Life is often difficult and daunting. It is meant to be that way. Progression does not come without challenges that make us rise above what we are as mere mortals. The tests and challenges of life are invitations to become greater than we already are. God wants us to grow as His beloved child, the Savior did; in wisdom, strength and knowledge.

"And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." (Luke 2:40)

Just as Heavenly Father supported Jesus in his earthly challenges, he will support us. His grace will come as we rely on Him, and follow the path that He has chosen for us. Sometimes that path is hard, but necessary. It bonds us to Him as we petition His grace. Our faith in Him replaces doubt in ourselves.

Yes, this earthly period is a preparation to help us become as God is. Our gifts emerge through the refinement of reaching and stretching to become more than what we are today.

The sister in this poem went to the Lord in prayer and received comfort. She moved forward with faith unsure of her future. As she put her trust in God, He blessed her to succeed. She was able to achieve far above what she expected. She was lifted far above her perceived capabilities.

As the beginning of the poem describes, she humbly felt gratitude for a Father who helped her accomplish great things. And so it is with every child that trusts and follows His promptings.

His success is in our success, and shared on lofty heights. He bestows upon us the power to be!
